Book Description

Making Art History, Getting to Know Artists from Africa and Beyond (Book One) is the product of two years of art history research and education workshops conducted by Norval Foundation’s Education and Curatorial team.

Education worksheets that were originally created for the workshops with Foundation, Intersen and FET-phase learners have been compiled and edited to create colourfully illustrated, fun, user-friendly, large-format art history workbooks, that place modern and contemporary artists from Africa centre-stage. The books are written in accessible language, suitable for English second language learners, and promote both visual and verbal literacy, encouraging learners to explore the rich visual material, describe what they see, ask questions and share ideas.
